Sick Days
This is being posted a little late today, not because it took any longer to write than anything else, but because I didn’t get up with my husband like I was supposed to. Instead I went back to something like sleep until the garbage trucks woke me an hour later. And to be honest, once I’m done here, I’m going to lay on the couch and probably watch Good Eats in the hope of going back to sleep. Because sleep is the one thing that I know for sure will help me feel better and I really need something to do that.
I’ve been sick for the past week, but not the usual kind of sick I get with the changing of the seasons. I’m used to getting a cold every spring and fall, I can handle that. This is a sore throat, nothing more, just a very unhappy feeling in the back of the left side of my throat that hasn’t really gone away since last Thursday and it’s most unpleasant. I never have a sore throat for more than a day usually, so I have no idea what to do with this.
We went to Med Express on Friday to make sure it wasn’t something super contagious before going to my cousin’s wedding on Saturday and they assured me it wasn’t strep. So that’s good. They weren’t helpful beyond that, though. Rest and ibuprofen is pretty much all the care package said and that I should come back if I developed more symptoms, which I haven’t yet. It’s just the sore throat. But it’s been here almost a full week so I think maybe we’ll go back today and see if they say anything different. I’m really sick of having a sore throat.
So for the past week I’ve been mostly laying around watching Netflix on my couch. That’s how I spent most of Friday, most of Sunday too, only I got to snuggle my husband then, which makes any sick day better. And Monday was spent that way as well, because rest is a thing that helps, apparently, and I would very much like to get better quickly. I’ve been drinking tea and lots of water and eating chicken soup and watching sitcoms about evil corporations. Today will probably be exactly the same.
