Free Writing 4: Foggy Morning
Good morning friends! Pittsburgh is covered in fog today. And I do mean covered. Like we left an hour ago in the fog and I just got home in the fog and all the way to Logan’s work was just fog. I went up to get coffee at Dunkin Donuts, as I often do on my way home from dropping Logan off, and it was all fog up on the hill even. I decided that I was not going to take 376 today because the on ramp from Squirrel Hill is awful and I super didn’t want to try and deal with it with such low visibility. Seriously, this on ramp is ridiculous. If you’ve never used it, the entrance has a stop sign, so you stop completely, look behind you and pray for an opening. Once that opening comes you floor it onto the exit lane that goes back into Squirrel Hill. This means you have to then merge immediately right before the tunnel which is maybe 100 feet ahead. It’s not a good time on a clear day, there was no way I was going to try that in the fog when I couldn’t see what was coming.
So that was my foggy morning adventure. Today I am also taking the kittens back to the vet. Yeah, we’re doing that again. They need their ears checked to see if the yeast infections have cleared up. I really hope they have, but I’m not sure about that. They were supposed to get these ear drops twice a day for two weeks but we only were able to manage once a day, so hopefully that was enough. It’s hard, since we have to hold down the cat and squeeze the super thick ointment in their ears, which is a two person job. I’ve attempted it on my own, our cats are too slippery for that. So it can only be done when both of us are home.
Anyway, we’ll see how that goes, and how this trip goes. I really hope the fog clears up a little by then. The appointment is at 11:30, so hopefully it’ll be at least less thick. Maybe? I don’t really know how fog works. Hopefully my poor cats will also be alright. They did not have fun last time, but I’m hoping not having shots this time will mean they won’t have any issues when we get home this time. They’re both snuggled up with me right now and I feel a little bad because they have no idea what’s coming in an hour. Calamity wandered into the carrier the one day, though, so I’m not sure how she feels about it. She knows, though, when I put her in there what’s going to happen, which is why she freaks out. Pearl has learned that ear drops happen in the evening when Logan goes towards her and will run all over the house to avoid them. They haven’t been itching their ears recently, so I’m hoping that’s a sign that they’re good.
Wish me luck on my adventures in the fog, and have a lovely day, my friends!
