Days of Thankfulness: Hope in Christ
It’s one of those day s for everyone, dear friends. I don’t particularly want to write right now as I was up late, like everyone else, but not late enough to see the results, so there’s that. It’s been a rough year on all of us and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be getting better just now. I’m tired of all this turmoil and anger and distress. I don’t to write about the election, but it’s the day after election day and so I suppose I must. So I present to you my comfort in all this. My hope is in Christ.
Do what they may, the people in office are not actually in control. God is. He is working his plan for the good of those who trust in Him and I am blessed to call myself one of them. This time may be scary and uncertain, but God is sovereign and good and there is nothing that Trump can do to change that. Did we make a poor decision? Yes, many, in fact. We made a lot of very bad choices this year, but God can work good from any situation, from any choice that we make, it is all in his plan, and that is comforting.
My faith was given to me by grace, sure, but also proven to me over and over again. I have leaned on Christ through many situations and trials that seemed like they could have no good ending. When we were in need, he provided, every time, and in His perfect timing. I am thankful for His providence in my life. We have been blessed with exactly what we need and always have been. Why should I doubt His goodness now? When things look bad, we turn to Christ in prayer and praise and He provides in His perfect way. As I look back at my marriage alone, I can see so many times that His plan was mysteriously and wonderfully timed. As I look at my life as a whole I see times when my prayers were answered even before they entered my thoughts. He is a truly amazing God.
That’s all I have to say today, a very short, but true post. I am so thankful that I don’t have to fear the future, that I can move forward with confidence that Christ is in control and will work all things for the good of His people. I am so thankful that I have been chosen by Him to be a part of His people, and His plan. I am thankful for my salvation in Him, for His grace and mercy. Today I am especially thankful for my hope in Christ. What are you thankful for?
