Coffee With Purps

Coffee Conversations with a Purple Girl

Busy, Busy, Busy

Do you ever have one of those weeks ahead of you where you can’t see any time to rest? That’s what our week looks like. There seems to be something every single day this week and it’s madness. It’s been like this for a long time now, though, so I’m not entirely surprised to find our schedule filled for the week. It’s just the way life is for us now that we’re adults, apparently.

Today we’re going out for my father-in-law’s birthday which was last month. Lauren is home for a short break, or at least, her time home is short. She actually had a long break, but spent most of it in Arizona seeing the Grand Canyon. But, she’s home now and we’re making the most of it by going out to eat with them tonight. Tomorrow is D&D, as usual, or usual now. We moved the day from Wednesdays to Tuesdays due to scheduling conflicts with the DM. Before that, though, I’ll be letting some random guy into our house to make sure it’s safe. There were a couple minor adjustments needed to get it up to code when we moved in so he’s coming to make sure those got adjusted. He’s apparently like 70, though, so I’m assured I don’t have to be afraid to be in the house alone with him. I’m actually rarely ever afraid of people. I’m a very trusting individual, which is not always a good thing, I guess.

The rest of the week is full of random interactions. I’m going up to get my hair cut on Thursday and hang out with my mom. Saturday I have a bridal shower, the first of many, I’m sure. We have so many weddings this year, more than the year we got married, I think. Well, on par with the year we got married, if you count all wedding like events. Every year we think we’ve run out of people to get married and then they pop out of the wood work. Actually, last year wasn’t so bad. Only five weddings for the summer. This year is a potential eight. We have two a month starting in April and going until June with a small break until September when it picks up again, oddly enough. We’re going to be doing a lot of running around this year. Out to Indiana this month for Lauren’s art show then back out in May for her graduation and then over to central PA for a wedding and back and then down to DC in September for another wedding. There’s part of me that wants to go somewhere for a vacation and part of me that’s like “We’re driving all the places, do we really want to drive some more?”  Ah well, we’ll see.

So this year is full of crazy and nonsense, but so is every year, really. At least we got to enjoy a Saturday off this past week. I don’t know how we managed that, but we did. My husband, being the wonderful man that he is, took me to a restaurant/diner that he used to go to with his grandparents and really enjoyed because they make really good devonshire sandwiches. If you don’t know what that is, it’s an open-faced turkey sandwich with bacon smothered in cheese sauce. This place puts ham on it as well, but according to Logan tomato slices are actually traditional. Apparently it’s a Pittsburgh thing, but not a super well known Pittsburgh thing. Regardless, this was the best thing I have ever tasted in my life and I’m super excited to eat the other half of it when I’m done here. I have never been so pumped about left-overs in my life. If my in-laws texted and told us we were going back there today, I would be totally into that. Probably not too healthy after that, but you know.

So, yeah, we’ve been up to all the things recently and will be up to all the things again this week and probably next week and probably the rest of the month and year and our lives, because that’s how life works. I need to look at my calendar again to see when I can arrange some coffee dates and such. I have friends in my area now, I just need to figure out when I can grab them. I’m so pumped about having friends around me, you have no idea. So I guess the business is a little bit self-imposed. Ah well, I suppose it’s better to be busy than be bored. I hope you all have a lovely day, my friends.
