Vacation’s A’Comin’!
One week from now I’ll be sitting on a beach with my in-laws enjoying the lovely shores of Lake Eire near Port Clinton. We’re pretty excited about it. Our vacation last year to D.C. was loads of fun, and very exciting, but it wasn’t exactly what you’d call relaxing. This year, we decided we’d just chill on the beach for a week, so that’s what we’re going to do and I am so ready for vacation.
We’re in the middle of making lists of things we need and working out what we’re doing through the week and all that important stuff. My brother has agreed to house sit for us so that he can feed our cats and keep and eye on them. Calamity’s eye is still a little squinty and I’m hoping it’ll be all better by the end of the week, but just in case, I’ll feel better knowing there’s someone here to keep an eye on her eye. Having someone stay in our house, though, presents a different set of prep plans needed for leaving. Instead of trying to make sure we use all the perishable stuff that won’t get eating over a week of vacation, we instead need to make sure there’s enough food in the house that my brother won’t starve. We also need to make sure it’s the right food, that he can make himself easily. Logan loves to cook, but my brother is more of a microwave dinner kind of human. We’ll see if I can get him to tell me what he wants for the week.
Aside from the house, and all the cleaning I need to do before we leave, we need to make a list of things we need to take with us. We’ll be able to do laundry in the house we’re staying at, so that’ll be nice, but we’ll still have to pack for a week away from home and on the beach. My husband needs proper foot gear as he doesn’t own any sandals and they’re kind of important for beach going. He was pretty uncomfortable on the beach for our anniversary. So we’ll have to find those for him, I’d like to look for a new bathing suit, but we’ll see if we have time for that this week. I’d like to get a cooler, because coolers are handy things to have. Snacks will be very important to take with us basically everywhere. Since we’re renting a house, we can cook meals there, but I assume we’ll be buying things up there for home cooked meals, and not dragging food three hours north with us. That seems a bit silly, don’t you think?
I’m super excited to sit on the beach and chill for a few days. We have some plans to do activities. There are the islands to be explored at least one day, and I’m sure my sister will want to hang out sometimes during our stay, since she’s twenty minutes from where we’re staying. I’m really looking forward to spending some time with her. We text a lot, but it’s just not the same as getting to hang out with her. I haven’t gotten to see her new apartment yet, either, so that’ll be nice. My parents will be up there the first two days we’re up, so we’ll probably do dinner with them that first night.
So no posts next week, obviously. I might bring my little bluetooth keyboard and try to do some writing on my iPad while we’re hanging out at the house, but no work writing for me. I’m going to relax all week and not worry about anything. Except probably my cats. We always worry about the cats a little while we’re away. Anyway, we just have to get through this week and then we’ll be off! Have a lovely day, my friends.
