The Only Other Wedding
Good morning, friends! We’re getting reading, rather haphazardly, for a wedding this weekend! It’s the only other wedding we have this year, and I’m pretty excited about that. We had one wedding back in February and that’s it for the entire year, as far as we know. There is always that chance that one will pop up later in the year. They do that sometimes, but as far as we can see now, it’s a low wedding count year and that makes the weddings we do go to that much more special.
This is a special wedding in and of itself, because a good friend of my husband’s is marrying a good friend of my sister-in-law’s, and they’re both in the wedding. Plus, this is the first church wedding in the church, in some number of years, and the first one that I’ll be attending, so there’s that, too. We’re pretty excited, but of course, we’ve saved most of the things we need to do for it until the last minute.
Logan needs new shoes, we’re debating on the shirt. I meant to look in his closet last night, but we got back late from visiting my parents and so sleep was the more appealing thing at that time. I’ll have to look to make sure he has the right color shirt, and hopefully it’s not a super thick one. I know he has one that’s a thicker material dress shirt, and it would not be super comfortable to wear it to a late July wedding, even if they aren’t doing suit jackets. Anyway, he did pick up his suit rental two days ago, so we’ve got that at least. Just need to venture out for shoes this evening and maybe for ingredients.
I should have counted our eggs before going up last night to my parents place, because we may need more eggs. I’m not sure. Anyway, I’m supposed to make chocolate cookies with mint chips for the wedding, because I was convinced I could find mint chips somehow. Turns out Amazon has failed me. All of the mint chips they offer are unreasonably expensive, or a little sketchy seeming and not Prime, so I don’t know that I would have had time to order them anyway. Back to square one. We could check at Giant Eagle, which is where we found them at Christmas time, but they may very well be just a Christmas time thing. So I may just be making chocolate cookies, maybe with mint extract. The other thing is we may need baking chocolate, we may not, depending on what kind of recipe I can find. This is going to be an adventure.
Finally, as with most weddings we go to, we have yet to get the final gift. I got them a gift for their shower, of course, so we have one gift down, but we have yet to buy the wedding gift and I’m not sure if we’ll be doing a gift or a gift card at this point. Mostly because it’s been a long week and a gift card would be most convenient, but if we’re out anyway, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to stop by and look for a gift, right? We’ll see how tonight goes.
It really wouldn’t be a wedding if we weren’t rushing around at the last minute, really. Luckily, I’ve already picked which dress I’m wearing, and which shoes, I just have to redo my toenails, because open toed shoes. I thought about wearing a similar color to the wedding colors, but I don’t want to seem like I’m imposing myself at all. I mean I would match my husband, but I figured wearing a different color would be better. Besides, I pulled out an old bridesmaid dress for the last wedding we went to, (the August dress, for a February wedding, oddly enough) I figured it’d be fun to make it a theme, since I’ve only been in two weddings, aside from my own, and there are only two weddings this year.
So we’re pretty excited for Saturday. Friday is the rehearsal and we’ll have to figure out what we’re doing with the car, I suppose, since my husband wants to take the groom out for drinks afterward and I might be a little stuck. I’m sure there are plenty of last minute things that I can help with, though, so as long as they don’t mind me hanging around, I’ll probably volunteer for that. Hopefully by then we’ll be ready. Shoes and shirt and gift tonight, cookies probably tomorrow morning, since I must leave something for the very, very last second. Wish us luck, and have a lovely weekend, my friends!
