Coffee Date
Hello dear friends, sorry I’m writing so late, but I had a coffee date this morning. As you know, I love coffee, and I also happen to enjoy dates, so this was a very exciting thing for me. I met up with some friends who live in the area at a place called Biddle’s Escape, a little local coffee shop rather near by. I’m super pumped about this place as it’s a small coffee shop within a fifteen minute drive, which is exciting, and also it’s super convenient for not only me, but also friends that I have! Mostly I’m pumped about having local friends, I’m not going to lie.
So the thing about going to college is you make a lot of friends who are always around, until you leave college and then they all go back home to whatever other state they came from and leave you on your own. I have lots of good friends from college, but a vast majority of them now live in other states or on the other side of the state or at least an hour away. I see them when I can, chat online and Skype and such, but it’s not the same. So imagine my excitement when after starting a D&D game with my husband I manage to make two lovely new friends that now happen to both live reasonably close.
This was the first of what I hope to be many regular coffee dates, and it was quite lovely. We met at Biddle’s around 10 an stayed until noon. The coffee shop itself is really cute with an outdoor seating area which we will have to explore on a less wet day, and lots of local art on the walls. They have a wide selection of teas and tea concoctions that look very interesting, though I had to go with my standard mocha latte, to be safe. Perhaps I’ll branch out someday, but not right off the bat. It was great, very well populated, but not loud, which was nice. There were people working quietly, or chatting respectfully here and there, but one could always hear what ones companions were saying without straining. I love local coffee shops and I’ve been looking for one near by for a while now.
It was also super lovely to get to talk with these two friends without standing awkwardly in the atrium of the game shop where we play D&D. Usually we only get to chat before or after, or sometimes during a game. Small little tiny conversations here and there. But today we got to just sit and talk about everything, from life and work to crafty projects and hobbies, it was so nice. I’m so glad that I have friends around now, especially since it’s these two lovely ladies.
So that was my morning. I’m home just long enough to type up this post before heading out to do some shopping type things and then we’ll see what I have time for after that before it’s time to pick up Logan. My day is full of running here and there but on a nice spring day like this, I don’t mind that too much. I hope you have a lovely day, my friends.
